Where Oh Where Did Our Social Security Info Go?

The Trump administration has admitted that staff tied to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) improperly handled Social Security Administration data for political purposes.

A court filing revealed that in March 2025, a DOGE staffer at SSA signed an agreement to share sensitive data with a political advocacy group seeking to overturn election results in several states.

Emails suggest DOGE employees may have been asked to match SSA data with voter rollsโ€”an unlawful use of government data that could violate the Hatch Act. The staffers involved were referred for possible investigation.

While unnamed, evidence points to True the Vote, a group known for pushing debunked election fraud claims. DOGE staffers, including Antonio Gracias, publicly made false or misleading claims linking Social Security data to voter fraud, despite no resulting prosecutions.

The revelations deepen concerns about the misuse of federal data, the spread of election misinformation, and the politicization of government agencies under DOGE leadership.

The above summarizes Popular Information‘s Jan. 22, 2026 article, “DOGE staffer signed deal to share Social Security data with election deniers” by Judd Legum, Rebecca Crosby, and Noel Sims.
