Take a Minute for a Priority Pause

Weโ€™ve all been there. TOO MUCH going on. Itโ€™s hard to know what to do first.

Here is a simple one-minute activity when youโ€™re juggling too many priorities that can help reduce your mental load, improve your productivity, and save your sanity:

  1. STOP for 20 seconds.
Put down what youโ€™re doing. Take three slow breaths.
  2. SORT for 20 seconds.
Ask: โ€œWhat truly needs my attention today?โ€
Choose ONE must-do and ONE nice-to-do. Everything else can wait.
  3. RESET for 20 seconds.
    Say to yourself:
โ€œI don’t have to do everything. I only have to decide what matters most right now.โ€ Then return to your one must-do.

Little-known self-care principle: Constantly switching between competing priorities can increase mental fatigue. Deliberately narrowing your attention is in and of  itself a great form of self-care.
