Time for a Reset for More Energy and Better Sleep!
It only happens a couple of times a year, but itโs a great time to reset for better sleep and lower anxiety, and more energy โ Hello, Equinox!
The vernal equinox is when day and night are nearly equal in length worldwide, marking the official start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The astronomical spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere typically falls on March 19, 20, or 21 (this year it was on March 20). The variations are due to the difference between the calendar year and the solar year. After this date, daylight steadily increases, which has real effects on your body.
Your Brain Loves the Extra Light
Longer days boost serotonin, the โfeel-goodโ neurotransmitter.
- This is why many people feel a natural mood lift in spring.
- It can help reduce symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder.
- More daylight also helps regulate your circadian rhythm (your internal clock).
Sleep Gets Reset (Eventually!)
Right around the equinox, your sleep might feel a little offโbut then improve.
- More morning light helps your body produce melatonin at the right time.
- This can lead to better sleep quality over the next few weeks.
- Think of it as your body โrecalibratingโ after winter.
Energy Naturally Increases
Many people feel more motivated to move in springโand thereโs a biological reason:
- Warmer temps + more light = increased dopamine and energy levels.
- Itโs a great time to restart habits like walking, yoga, or being outdoors.
Simple Health Tip to Try This Week
Use the equinox as a mini reset:
- Get 10โ20 minutes of morning sunlight.
- Take a short walk outdoors.
- Open windows and refresh your space.
Small shifts these right now can help sync your body with the season in a healthy, natural way.
