No Troops to Portland: Trump’s Appeal Dismissed

Last Tuesday, Judge Mary Murguia of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit dismissed the Trump administration’s appeal over deploying National Guard troops to Portland, effectively ending the case.

A lower court injunction issued in November by Judge Karin Immergut blocking the deployment remains in place.

Oregon officials, including Gov. Tina Kotek and Attorney General Dan Rayfield, called it a victory for the rule of law.

As KOIN quoted Kotek: “Our communities won’t be treated as a testing ground for unchecked federal power.”
