A Newsletter to Unite Indivisibles in Oregon

May 13, 2026

The Oregon Coast Indivisible Alliance strengthened its coalition of cities and towns defending democracy.

Welcome to another week of surviving a harsh attempt at turning our democracy into an authoritarian regime. Pat yourself on the back by planning some positive thinking, and congratulations on being here with other like minded free thinkers!

  • What a Gas Hole: Can Trump partly climb out of the hole he’s dug by getting Congress to cut the national gas tax (which is levied at the refinery stage, not at the pump)? What Can I Do>

What Can I Do?

  • Switch into “election mode” right now — according to Jess Craven of Chop Wood, Carry Water. Check out her inspiring article.

  • Call Republican lawmakers to demand they reject $70 billion in funding for ICE and Border Patrol. The Republican reconciliation bill revealed last Monday includes these slush funds for Trump’s mass deportation machine and $1 billion for his gaudy ballroom. Some Republicans are already wavering, so let’s keep up the pressure. See more info from Indivisible.

  • If you have Democratic Members of Congress, we need you to keep up the drumbeat of opposition to $70 billion in ICE funding, too. Now that Congress is back in session, we need to see Democrats using every tactic and tool possible to block, obstruct, and turn public opinion against this bill.
