A call to action for Oregon Indivisible groups, shared by Greg Chisholm
The Problem:
Oregon’s retirement fund is invested in a mutual fund that has shares in Geo Group and Core Civic. These are the prison companies ICE uses to warehouse individuals in deplorable conditions.
The Solution:
Write to:
State Treasurer Elizabeth Steiner’s Office
900 Court St. NE
Salem, OR 97301
Include a nickel ($0.05 cent) donation, and be sure to give your name and address so they can properly log the donation.
Include a short letter stating that you want Oregon’s retirement fund to divest from Core Civic and Geo Group. We know they are part of a mutual fund, but prioritize divesting from fascism over supporting that mutual fund.
Repeat this every week until we hear it worked. Send a new letter with a new nickel donation every week.
Invite a friend to join you on this campaign.
Post on social media that you sent a letter and encourage others to do the same.
