MAHA Moms Push Back

The President is facing backlash from supporters of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after issuing an executive order to boost domestic production of glyphosate, a widely used weedkiller labeled “probably carcinogenic” by international health officials.

The order, framed as a national security measure under the Defense Production Act, stunned activists in Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) movement, many of whom backed Trump over concerns about toxins and pesticides.

While Kennedy publicly supported the order as strengthening food and defense security, grassroots MAHA supporters and influencers called it a betrayal of campaign promises.

The move benefits Bayer, which owns Monsanto, the maker of Roundup — a product Kennedy previously fought in court. The controversy exposes growing tension between Trump and a key faction of his health-focused political base.

The above summarizes “MAHA Moms Turn Against Trump: ‘Women Feel Like They Were Lied To” by Sheryl Gay Stolberg and Hiroko Tabuchi, The New York Times, Feb. 19, 2026.
