Legislative Action Alert: Final Week

By Debi Ferrer

We are in the final week of the 2026 Oregon Legislative session, and there are several important bills that Indivisibles need to call about this week.

Visit the COIN 2025 Legislation webpage for a list of bills COIN is endorsing or opposing, and actions that are needed this week. The website is updated every evening, so folks can check back daily for updated action alerts. We have mere days left to make a difference.

Critical: Opposing HB 4018

One of these bills is extremely critical. COIN opposes HB 4018, which will delay and effectively gut the strong campaign finance reform law that was passed by the legislature in 2024 (HB 4024). Our legislators will likely be voting on HB 4018 this Wednesday or possibly Thursday.

Action Items:

  • We are organizing a Press Conference to be held at the Capitol on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. to express our opposition to HB 4018. If you can attend, please contact Bill Vollmer at cyclinguybill@gmail.com.
  • Also, if you have connections with any legislators that you think are opposed to HB 4018 and might be willing to be part of the press conference, please contact Bill Vollmer at cyclinguybill@gmail.com.
  • Finally, please write and/or call your state representative and state senator to urge them to vote NO on HB 4018 when it comes up for a vote. Look up their contact info here by entering your address. Here are some simple talking points and a sample email that you can use, as well as a detailed summary of problems with HB 4018 that you might also wish to send to your legislators.

Thank you for all you do to defend democracy! Strong campaign finance laws are essential to free and fair elections, so please help us protect the strong law passed in 2024.
