Did you know that only 5-7% of married couples make it to a 50 year anniversary? There are many reasons involved — conflicts, accidents, and just dumb luck, all figure into the equation. In any case, it is hard to keep something like a marriage together — or a democracy. So, Happy 250th Anniversary, America! What an amazing accomplishment.
Gather and celebrate. Eat, drink and be merry. And help us get back on track (after this ugly bump in the road) for our 251st, 500th, and 1000th anniversaries. No harm in dreaming big. Our forefathers did, and here we are!
