COIN November 4, 2025 Meeting Notes

ELECTION DAY 2025 The COIN meeting opened with a spontaneous celebration of the Election Day 2025 results coming in from Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York City Mayor, Mississippi, and what we know now - everywhere! California Proposition 50 was called before the meeting ended just after 8:00 PM!

FOOD SECURITY AND DISASTER PLANNING With SNAP benefits being held up, many Indivisible groups have jumped into action. The discussion centered around how disaster planning for your family, your neighbors, and your community fits into the need for food security in the event of a disaster, man made or natural.

Food drives, cash donations, and working with communities was discussed with cash conations having the most impact utilizing an organization's buying power.

To find organizations providing food and housing assistance, emotional and mental health support, go to the We Care Team page on the COIN website.

During the COIN meeting we heard from Bobbi of SE 23rd Avenue Pro Democracy Indivisible about their recent Solidarity in Action project. The plan was developed by working with a liaison to Bienestar, who helps with health care needs of a housing complex that has 2700 immigrant residents, half of them children. Because of kidnapping ICE activity, the residents have been to afraid to shop. The Bienestar liaison asked for specific supplies (food and household), and the Indivisible group said YES. Funding came from a Solidarity in Action grant form indivisible, and this photo shows the results: lots of bags full for 10 families to receive.

According to Bobbi, donations continue to be collected at our weekly Friday meetings and  the director of community outreach came speak to us about how much it is appreciated. It's been gut wrenching to hear accounts of what the residents are going through.

The  group is continuing with training through PIRC and MIGRAWATCH to be able to be efficient in reporting when encountering ice in the community.

Overpass banner bridge brigades are happening everywhere, including this one from from Protect Oregon's Progress - Bridges and Brews group  in The Dalles. Over pass banner events got a shout out in Robert Hubbell's daily message, on November 6, 2025 wen he shared this:

"As Republicans remain in denial about the train that just hit them, we should seize this opportunity to gain ground while we have maximum momentum.

A note from a reader who participates in a Bridge Brigade, Cherie S., illustrates the need to strike while the iron is hot."

Our team went to our regular Freeway Mavericks messaging action on the I-5 Freeway this morning (Wednesday, after the election results). After 9 months doing this messaging action, these Wednesday morning commuters KNOW we’re anti-Trump. Before our weekly message was even posted, as soon as the Wednesday commuters saw us on our usual overpass, they started honking. A LOT. Much more than usual.

The unusual honking continued after the message went up, and throughout our 90-minute shift. Using their horns, drivers were CELEBRATING LAST NIGHT’S VICTORIES WITH US!!!

Spotify is Running Ads Recruiting Agents for ICE

Don't Stream Facsim - Cancel Spotify

Indivisible shares that "Until our demands are met, we will withhold our subscriptions and our support. We are calling on Spotify founder and current CEO Daniel Ek, as well as Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström who will become the new co-CEOs starting in January 2026, to:

  • Immediately terminate all ICE and DHS advertising contracts with Spotify.
  • Spotify must update its Advertising Policy to prohibit government propaganda and hate-based recruitment campaigns.
  • Spotify must commit to defending civil rights and standing up for communities under threat from authoritarian actions."
